Week 22

When Paul was bitten by a snake, it was not much of a story. He just shook the snake off into the fire. The people on the island of Malta were sure he would die from it. They thought that by dying he would be getting paid back for all of the bad things he must have done. But he didn't die from it ... he just continued helping out like he was already doing.

Our verse says that death is the payment we all deserve for the bad things we have done. But God does not want to give us what we deserve, instead he wants to gives us a gift ... a gift of life.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
- Romans 6:23
